Biography
Marsha Mailick Seltzer, Ph.D is the Director of Waisman Center since 2002; acting director 2001 - 2002. She was appointed Interim Director of the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery in August 2006.
She has a B.A. from UW-Madison, 1972 Psychology and Sociology and a Ph.D., Brandeis University, 1978 Social Welfare.
She joined the faculty at the UW-Madison in 1988, when she was recruited from Boston University, where she was an Associate Professor. She has been a Waisman Center scientist since that time and is a Vaughan Bascom Professor
Marsha Mailick Seltzer has a number of academic affiliations across the campus, including the Institute on Aging and the Center for Demography of Health and Aging. She is also Co-Director of the Waisman Center’s Postdoctoral Training Program in Mental Retardation Research
She serves as the Chair of the Developmental Disabilities Research Centers Association and is the author of over 130 publications, Dr. Seltzer is the recipient of the Distinguished Research Award of the Arc and the Christian Pueschel Memorial Research Award of the Down Syndrome Congress.
