Bronna's Story

My story seems to be ongoing. My husband retired in 2001 and we moved to our farm in N. Mo. A year later my sister and her husband retired and moved to a small town about 13 miles from us. My sister and I were very close. Our dad died when we were young and she was like a mom to me. She was 10 years older. After they moved, we started enjoying retirement and being together. We had a garden and loved to can and put up veggies for the winter. The summer of 2002 she came out to help me can and said her right had was not working right. I thought maybe she had a stroke, so we all got in the car and took her immediately to the doctor. She then went through a battery of tests and found out she had cancer on her esophagus, aeorta, and a brain tumor. The tumor was what was causing her right arm and hand not to function right. She went through chemo and radiation and lived a year and a half. I was with her day and night the last 2 weeks of her life. I felt like I lost my best friend when she left for Heaven. Now about 2 years later, my husband was diagnosed with colon, liver, lymph node and possible kidney cancer. He is actually handling it better than myself. I lean on the Lord and pray for strength daily. We are taking it a day at a time. In the past 3 years we have lost my sister, and my husband's mother and father. We also had a still born daughter back in the 80's. Sometimes I feel like my plate is very full. I take care of my 84 year old mother as well. I guess what I want to say is that we need to be thankful for each day we have as it is a gift for God. Enjoy life to the fullest and "Bloom where you are Planted." We are all just passing through. Be ready for what is on the other side. Bronna
