Allison's Story

Hi, I am my Dad's Kiddo. I will be 29 yrs old tomorrow. I had to have my Father hospitalized on Feb. 14th 2007. My stepmother (his wife of 25 yrs) died Feb. 5th 2005. He was already depressed. Christmas 2005 my stepbrother & I with our spouses went to spend that 1st Christmas with him. This past Christmas he didn't want anybody there. After Christmas he started calling out of work, and was put on a leave of absence. After returning to work this happened again & he quit calling out or showing up at all. His phone had been disconnected he quit paying it. I called his job & spoke with them. Upon doing so I found out an associate of his had went to see if he was okay. At that point he was talking about being ready to give up. He was planning one of two or a combo of the two ....suicide plan. After calling his working & finding out this info. (I don't live in the same state) I asked an asst. mgr. to go out to his house & check on him. After doing so as I requested She called me upon arrival. She told me how bad it had gotten ...he had not showered in approx. 2 weeks & the house was ****100 times worse than you could imagine**** approx. 150 rats in the house, extremely high ammonia smell (due to his dogs & the rats), plus alot more. I told her to call the police out there & have something done. Upon getting a little more info from a Corperal that arrived My father was admitted for evaluation. He has givin up on living life. I am working on saving the funds to get a place of my own ( I live w/ my inlaws) so I can bring my father to stay with me. This is what he is finally in agreement to. I asked him to do this 2 yrs ago when I had my own home. I am doing my best to take care of him. I lost my biolgical mother when I was 12 yrs old (suddenly). I don't want anything to happen to my dad. I came here looking for any and all support I can get. So, I can give my dad what he needs. I've been going nonstop for the last couple days & my immune system has crashed now & I have gotten sick. Wed. -Thurs. night I didn't get any rest really because the phone was ringing all through the night also.I know I have to take care of me first so, I CAN take care of him. Please any and all help is requested.
