There are several types of Bipolar disorder.

Bipolar I

Bipolar I causes recurring mania and depressive episodes. The depression may last for a short time or for months.

Bipolar II

People who have bipolar II experience depression but the periods of mania may not be as severe. Many women experience Bipolar II or similar symptoms after having a baby.
