Obesity

Overview

 

Obesity is categorized by having a BMI (body mass index) of more than 25 for men, or 29 for women. A BMI at this amount indicates an excess amount of body fat. To calculate your BMI, click here.

More than 60 percent of Americans aged 20 years and older are overweight.

Obesity is a dangerous health condition that puts people at risk for heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, and some forms of cancer.
