OLD AGE

Treatment

Specific health issues that arise with old age all have their own treatments. However, a healthy lifestyle helps to keep the mind and body at optimal performance levels. A balanced and nutritional diet, regular exercise regime, plenty of sleep, daily relaxation, and stress-reducers may help your loved one (and you) live a healthier life.

If your loved one is feeble, try getting them a walker to help them get around without using as much energy. Put extra cushions on chairs to protect brittle bones. Since falls are the number one cause of death from injury in people over the age of 65, protect your home with non-slip carpets, use handrails in the bathroom, and remove any clutter from your floor.

When caring for an elderly loved one, buy large-type books and playing cards, encourage hearing aides, and purchase clothing with extra-large buttons or zippers.

Please check with your doctor for more information.
