Osteoporosis

Types

There is only one type of osteoporosis, a disease in which bones become fragile and more likely to break. If not prevented or if left untreated, osteoporosis can progress painlessly until a bone breaks.

Weak bones may cause the spine to collapse, which in turn can make people shorter (or have hunched backs). Osteoporosis also increases the chance of bone fractures.
