Recommend Resources from Families of Adolescents and Adults with Autism

Many families have asked us for advice or resources they could reference in order to help them learn more about their son or daughter's autism spectrum disorder. With over 400 families participating in our research, we decided to ask parents if there were any books, movies, or other materials they have found to be particularly helpful and would recommend to other families. Reflections from Adult Siblings who have a Brother or Sister with an Autism Spectrum Disorder

In this article, we have assembled some of the wisdom, reflections, and ongoing concerns that adult siblings expressed. Siblings also had advice for parents and other siblings. The quotations in this booklet reflect the range of thoughts and concerns that surfaced in this study. While there are many common themes among these comments, the uniqueness of each sibling's experience is also wonderfully evident. We have changed personal information to protect the identity of those participating in our study. Read more
