FROSTBITE: SYMPTOMS & TREATMENT
Frostbite usually occurs on any extremities exposed by cold weather. These extremities may include hands, nose, ears, or feet. Symptoms of FrostbiteSymptoms of frostbite include:Burning, tingling, stinging, or numbing of the skin. A person may not feel numb, but may lose balance as a result of impaired nerves. If frostbite is left untreated it can damage tissue. A person may develop redness of skin or white skin plaques. In extreme cases of frostbite, a limb may be permanently impaired or may need to be removed. CAUTIONIf a loved one has signs of frostbite, DO NOT break blisters, rub affected area, or apply heat lamps or hot water bottles to the affected area.
