STRENGTH FOR CARING WON THE FREDDIE AWARD FOR CAREGIVING
www.StrengthforCaring.com is the proud recipient of the 2006 Freddie Award for Caregiving. For 32 years, the Freddie Awards have recognized companies who have achieved excellence in media for healthcare, medicine, or science. Strength for Caring won the 2006 Caregiving Freddie Award, and was a finalist for two other 2006 Freddie Awards: The 2006 Geriatrics Freddie Award, and the 2006 Websites Freddie Award. A Caregivers video created for The Caregiver Initiative was a finalist for the 2006 Caregiving Freddie Award. The Freddie Awards are the most prestigious media awards in the International health and medical fields. Each year, the Freddie Award competition celebrates excellence in medical and health media dedicated to exploring the health-related issues that change people's lives including: documentaries, feature-length films, series, videos, Websites, and CD-ROMs. The competition's rigorous judging — conducted by medical and production professionals from across the country — has become the industry standard. World-class filmmakers and producers compete in 36 categories for the FREDDIE, the bronze statuette named in honor of the competition's founder, Dr. Fred Gottlieb. The 1,400-page Website, www.StrengthforCaring.com, launched February 28, 2006. Strength for Caring is part of The Caregiver Initiative, created by Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Company, Division of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc. Strength for Caring is an online resource to help family caregivers take care of their loved ones and themselves. The Website contains six main sections:· Caregiver ManualWithin Caregiver Manual, the Strength for Caring Website visitor will find articles and content devoted to their needs—helping caregivers deal with stress, diet, managing work, spouses or partners, and siblings. In addition, the Caregiver Manual section helps caregivers relax and take time off. · CommunityThe goal of the Community area is to empower and inform caregivers with a powerful and active online community. Strength for Caring provides 24/7 messageboards and a place where caregivers can tell their personal story to the world. Receive help and tips from other caregivers any time of the day or night in our Community. · Health ConditionsThe goal of this section is to help caregivers understand the main ailments that care recipients suffer from. The information on Strength for Caring is not meant as medical advice, but merely an overview. Please check with your doctor or your loved one's doctor for more information on any health condition. · Daily CareIn our Daily Care section, we offer the practical, day-to-day information and advice from brushing someone's teeth and hair, to proper cleansing and bathing, to taking the keys away. · HousingThis section contains information about the different types of housing options, and a friendly comparison chart. It contains practical tips and advice including "What to Look For" when choosing any type of home or housing situation. · Money & InsuranceThis section contains practical information, written in a simple and friendly way, about insurance, budgeting, eldercare law, and other topics related to Caregiving. This section will help caregivers understand what Power of Attorney or Guardianship mean; will explain Medicare Part D and the different types of supplemental insurance. This section will host experts in the financial, legal, insurance, and government arenas.
