The following African American resources are a sample of the many wonderful caregiving resources available. Additional ResourcesCaregiving Help, Support, & InformationAfrican American Breast Cancer AllianceAABCA was founded by African American women who have had breast cancer. They sponsor health fairs and participate in numerous community events. Call to request the brochure, "Being There" about breast health for African American women. For more information contact: African American Caregiver Assistance Program Older Adult and Family Center This program is designed to help caregivers understand and manage difficult behaviors that accompany memory problems. Youth will play a strategic role in promoting the open facilitation and exchange of information, ideas and commerce actively throughout the Inland Empire. The youth particularly will be encouraged to submit their comments, question, essays and raise issues of concern. Periodically essays with pictures will be posted. This site is designed to give one stop access to education, information technologies and health resources for the adults and youth throughout the entire village population. African Americans & Dementia Department of Psychiatry, University of California Dementia is more common among African American and Hispanic elders as compared with Caucasian Americans elders. Most of the care of ethnic elders with dementia is conducted by family and informal caregivers. But due to a variety of psychosocial and cultural factors, ethnic elders are less likely than Caucasian elders to have access to formal comprehensive diagnostic, treatment and management resources for dementia care.
