For more information contact: California Caregiver Resource Centers Each year, the 11 nonprofit Caregiver Resource Centers (CRCs) serve more than 14,000 families and caregivers of persons with adult-onset brain impairments. Bay Respite Care Bay Respite Care provides non-medical in-home respite care for people with developmental disabilities, an illness, a physical disability or impairment that requires care in the home. We give family members a break from the unique demands of caring for someone who is disabled or are disabled themselves. Families caring for a loved one with special needs have enough to worry about in their everyday lives. They can't afford the added stress of recruiting and employing their own support staff, but they need to be in control of who supports them! We are here to help. For more information contact: Francis House of Sacramento Francis House is a resource and counseling center for the poor supported by seventeen churches and the community at large. All to often, we provide the last hope for those disenfranchised from the main stream of society. Anyone in need is welcomed with a warm cup of coffee and a dose of compassion. Our counseling is much like you would experience with a friend who was having difficulties; listen first, then help problem solve their dilemma. The resources on the site are specifically designed for those providing care for someone who is living with a disease-related dementia such as Alzheimer's, stroke, Parkinson's and Multiple Sclerosis. http://link2care.net/link2care/jsp/default.jsp For more information contact: National Abandoned Infant Assistance Resource Center Family Welfare Research Group The National Abandoned Infants Assistance Resource Center's mission is to enhance the quality of social and health services delivered to children who are abandoned or at-risk of abandonment due to the presence of drugs and/or HIV in the family. The Resource Center provides training, information, support, and resources to service providers who assist these children and their families. In 1988, Congress passed the Abandoned Infants Assistance Act to address the "boarder baby" phenomenon, wherein infants, particularly those perinatally exposed to drugs or HIV, reside in hospitals indefinitely due to difficulties in locating appropriate living arrangements. This legislation, which is administered by the Children's Bureau, Administration on Children, Youth and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, provides funding to support the Resource Center and direct service projects. The Resource Center is located at the University of California at Berkeley.
