State & County Caregiving ResourcesAlzheimer's Association of Colorado The Alzheimer's Association Colorado Chapter is the premier source of information and support for over 63,000 Coloradoans with Alzheimer's disease. Colorado has the seventh fastest growing aging population in the U.S. In the year 2010, there will be more than 770,000 seniors age 60 and over in Colorado. From the years 2000 - 2010, the numbers of these seniors will increase 39%. Centenarians are the fastest growing segment of the American population. Did you know that four out of every five Centenarians are women? Currently, there are about 600 Coloradans 100 years old or older. In 2010, there will be approximately 700 coloradans 100 years or older. By the year 2050, the Census Bureau predicts there will be over 850,000 Centenarians in the United States. Having an opportunity to talk to someone who has been through a similar experience can be both encouraging and healing.
